That's why I say it is all in the 'mind'. As long as one can get the same discount (as if paying in cash), then why not use the flexi-payment with the ADs. Of course, the grey dealers is another different thing. If I have the cold-hard cash, I'd rather choose the grey dealers because of the better (lower) prices. So it's kinda' trade-off or something.
Poor bloke like me have no choice. It's "unfortunate" that I'd succumbed to this hobby. VERY expensive one..

Reason being, you will def feel 'uncomfortable' if you were to follow advice of others when it comes to such personal decisions.
You need to ask yourself truly which means more to you and make your own choice. That IMO, will give you more satisfaction and you will feel less regret in the future.
What I mean is if you feel your family means a lot more, and hence, decide to save your money for your child, then at least this is from yourself and you will be more able to stick to such decisions. If you don feel and don believe in this, and you only save for your child cos someone else tells you to, then it will not change anything cos you will have a constant nagging feeling and might even be a bit resentful (in very bad cases).
Ifs ok to indulge in luxures from time to time but most imp, ask yourself which will give you more satisfaction cos I have to admit, either way, you have to make a sacrifice unless you are getting the same pay as some of the top people in Singapore
However, if one has the surplus cash and the Rolex purchase does NOT hurt other priorities, then the "go ahead" seems very clear.
Personally, it took me many years before I bought an used Rolex piece. When I made that decision, I told myself that ONE would be all I ever needed or wanted. Guess what? The urge to buy another piece came soon after! The truth remains that it's real hard to keep to that promise because the temptation to get another piece is so strong after a while (unless you stop looking at Rolex all together). Well, so far I've been able to fight it off because the second piece does not warrant its priority as of now!
I'd encourage that one gives himself or herself some time to ponder. If the urge to buy it does not go away and or one keeps dreaming and thinking about it despite a few weeks have passed, then I think the 'want' has somehow become a 'need' for that season!
Lastly, I want to congratulate the soon arrival of your second child and also the thoughtfulness of many forumers who have given very sound advices here. I think this discussion is rather balanced and not lop-sided. Great job, guys!
Just my 2-cent worth :-)

u just strengthen my point, i was working on 2 scenario irregardless if she wants to buy stove and fridge & preown rolex and/or brand new rolex alone minus the stove and fridge
1) - TS does not have the full amount to pay for the watch
2) - TS does have the full amount to pay for the watch.
in the former case highlighted in blue
in the latter case highlighted in green

i never pay things via instalment because im not comfortable to using future money which i yet to earn unless i have spare cash in the bankOriginally posted by wolfeyes1974 View Postnope not really..TS already has the $$...it's only instalment for the portion that she's going to spend on the stove and etc....i doubt that's going cost more than $5K...if you have issues with your account, click here for self help and read forum rules here. 90% of your answers can be found in Forum FAQ

I dun think i will get a preown (at least that's what I think now). It's something i want to get for myself so i want it new.. haha
Monthly installment is an option but again.. I dun like to spend future money. As you all have put it, it's really a want not need... Actually quite regretful to have paid the car using installment cos it's something that is not really necessary but it's really convenient when have it...
Anyway, now after talking about it, the urge not that strong anymore as long as i dun go to another rolex shop I would have almost forgot about wanting to buy a rolex.. perhaps i dun come to this forum also... hmmm...
I think i probably save the money for a trip to Hokkaido next year!! Travelling is still my fav. A watch is just there to tell time...

i find that a car is 'essential' especially if you have young children. why? because in times of need, public transport may not be a quick option esp if during peak time and in need of a taxi.if you have issues with your account, click here for self help and read forum rules here. 90% of your answers can be found in Forum FAQ

Haha for me i chose a watch rather than holidays, my wife has been asking me to accompany her to europe for 2 weeks , but the thought of spending 20-30k for a shopping trip IMO is a wasted of money .
I rather spend the money on watch , and set aside a few ks to bring her to asia country .Focal JM_Labs .
