    Question about discounts

    Hi, newbie here. I'm looking for a watch for my wife. I've been reading a bit about discounts offered by retailers and the general consensus is about 20% give or take a few percent here and there. I have 2 questions:

    1. Are the discounts offered before or after GST?

    ie for a 10K watch with 20% discount - is total price paid $8k or is it $8K + 7%?

    2. Are the discounts off the recommended retail price or the price quoted by the AD?

    Reason for this question is that the AD can add 20% to the price and then claim to give a 20% discount and you're back to square one.

    It is inclusive of GST.

    Discounts are off recommended retail price...ADs will quote u RRP.

    No they won't do that. Except except models that are very popular selling at premium. Ladies watches no such problems usually.

          Why no discounts for sports models

          I have a friend working in AD. Reason they have no discounts for popular sports models is because they know they have move these pieces without any discounts.

          AD needs to make profit from these piece as Rolex gives these popular pieces based on allocation. In addition to allocation, the AD have to take in 5 hard to move rolex pieces to get 1 popular sports model.
