Very interesting stories all.
For myself, I only got my first last year at 34. It was a reward to myself after 10 years of working life, and a work achievement that I was looking forward to.
I didn't dare buy earlier on in life, as I had other priorities like getting my house finances stable, putting aside for both kids' education, ensuring my debt-to-income ratio and rainy-day assets were all set aside, etc. And also, I was looking to get a car I really liked.
And to echo what some bros said, the feeling of getting it with my own money after I reached a career milestone ... the Rolex tagline says it all ... "Wear a crown for every achievement".
