I have heard people saying that RSC will check if the watch is stolen or not. I have sent in watches to service and to verify before. Since servicing takes a long time, they might check if the watch is stolen during the process. On the other hand, they take like 15mins to verify my watch. The watch was bought into the big "fish tank" to be opened up, saw the whole process, after finished examining, the aunite will take it back to you and issue you a receipt. I didn't see they check with any file or computer for stolen record... did they really check?

below is my thinking , correct me if I'm incorrect : after verified the wacth , when they return the watch to you , they will registered your watch series no. and input your name into thier computer system. (tha's why you can see your name / series no. in receipt...)
at this moment they will check this series no. got other registered owner or not....maybe this is the way they check this wacth is stolen /loss watch or not........

They should have the stolen record in their system already. So, once they input the series no., they will know whether it's stolen or not. Tat's mine thinking.Current

I believe there is a system in place to check with some database (db) for stolen/lost ROLEX watches. However, not all (staff) will adhere to the process (of checking). It may also be the case where discretion is upon the person in charge of the verification chore. If he/she feels there is a need (to check against db), he/she will do so. If no; no checking be done.
Just guessing.

no, they dun check. I am inclined to think it is a myth. i know back in the early 90s they did check, because my father got called up on his watch, but when i serviced the same watch, they didnt even bat an eyelid.[U]Currently wearing[/U]:

Speaking of this, I hope to understand if the serial number of each ROLEX watch is unique, ie there will only be one set of number for one watch, independent of model.

How do RSC know whether the watch is really stolen or not??? If I not happy with someone, copy his/her watch ser# and give it to RSC.... ha ha... can or not?

Just my opinion
I dun think RSC is interested in performing any value added service to check whether your watch is stolen or not. They are also not authorised to "judge" whether the watch is stolen or not. Therefore the procedure will still be to look for the appropriate authority - Singapore Police, interpol etc. Until the authority find that the case is "big enough", then they will apply for court instruction to access RSC record to check and also to trace all owner who used to or own the watch to verify. In short, RSC is just a updated data bank, of course they can also act as whistle blower, however, they need to be very sure before the owner counter sue them back for dafamation and causing mental distress. In summary, you need to report to police first to generate a case first.Comment

Matching of DB is done days AFTER verification does not make much sense.
U are asked to fill in details in the card... 1 can put in fake details mah.. so how to trace?

what if thought your watch was stolen/lost, report it to police and RSC. Later found back, report back to police and RSC, and five years later you send watch to service, gonna say your watch is stolen, how???
