being called "ah pek" is ok. I would be more than glad to be a rich D.O.M lusting after all the foreign imports...er, I was talking abt watches imported from switzerland. for those with slightly twisted interpretations of imports, pls PM

My own opinion
Experience wif pple around me so far did nt give me any such feelings of being ah pek/ah beng. Rather, ROLEX gives me a sense of prestige; an achievemt; a great accomplishmt. As wat te brand says, "Own a Crown for every Achievemt". However, being this. It gives some pple te "fear" of wearing one; fear of being seen as rich, obnoxious n arrogant; a person who comes frm wealthy background. IMO, may b yes; may b no.
Thre r many "fears". Eg, a sales exec wearing one ROLEX n his/her boss wearing a CASIO. Te fear here refers to te sales exec who may fear how his/her boss looks at him/her. One thought; "wah, can afford such a watch ah. then no need to promote so fast" (te job description is just an example).
Anothr such "fear" would b family/relatives n even friends, coming to u to borrow money, knowing tat u somehow strike it rich (since u r wearing a ROLEX). I'v tis encounter of my friend, whose sister (married), in need of money to clear ah long debts, pressured him to "lend" her his watch to pawn.
So these r actual fears (i personally encounter) i see on daily basis. Nt really abt te reputation/perception.
Thanks...
Oh btw, I own (n sometimes wear) a Rolex DJ, n my own boss wears a SWATCH. So I dont wear my rollie in front of him

Lucky for me, my bosses and above, all watch aficiandos. In the JLC, AP ROO range. A few of my more senior colleagues also into Hublot BBs. So my Rolex SD not so "oustanding", can wear to office daily.

issit google or micrsoft?
i got a few colleagues who are really fanatical abt rollies esp the full-gold DJs. I'm pretty sure they are WIS cos the rollies they bought way back in the 70s have never been serviced and during meetings, they would always brag abt how lasting their rollies are.
surprisingly, they never hesitate to flip their sport models as compared to their DJs. guess perception has somethin to do with it.Remnants of my irresponsibility:
"Foreign affections"
1) Sinn U1-30 June 2007
2) Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600 M series-23 Jan 08 (HER perpetual oyster )
3) Omega Seamaster Chrono Diver 2225.80.00-25 Jul 08 (From Wife )
4) IWC Top Gun Chrono-20 Sep 09
What's NEXT?

Rolex=Uncle?
There was a time I had the perception that people wearing Rolex belongs to the uncle category. As time passes by, the perception began to fade and now as Rolex keeps improving on its time pieces and marketing strategy, I would safely say that Rolex has improved its image.
So what do you guys think?PAM 233K :woohoo:

in this forum have a lot of people in the range of 20-40 owning and buying rolex (with the exception of a few lucky ones below 20 )
i oso have the same thts as you initially. Maybe its because I see too many TT datejusts on ah-pek hands and also only hear my elders only talk abt rolex upon retiring.I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch.........
