  • Rolex date magnification

Do any of u know whether it is true that the recent Rolex models have variation in its date magnification? Because my Friend recently bought one with a smaller date magnification than normal, other than that everything looks good. Thanks

My experience is that the older models have higher magnification.

The current newer ones seem to be lower

It's random. There seems to be some inconsistency. It has been a lot of discussion in many forums.
In some countries, their Rolex service centre changed the crystal with 'correct' magnifier.
Over here in sgl, rsc refused to do so without a charge, as mentioned by member here who tried. Rsc sgp is insistent that it is not a manufacturing defect.

The main different is the AR coating.

that's nothing to do with the magnifying glass. its the date imprint itself.. some with bold print some with fine print... that's all...

take my word for it, its the magnifier. a change of crystal to the 'correct' magnifier solves the problem. You google Rolex date magnifier, u will see some discussions.

Its not difficult to verify the font is the same. Just peep under the magnifier. The font size is the same.

Coating? Never heard of this issue.

not sure if u can see....sorry for poor pics. but its actually obvious in the flesh that the TT Sub has a lesser dome of a magnifier than the green sub.
