If it's brushed steel, can try using 3M scotch brite pad which you use for scrubbing pots and kitchen sink. I had great results using a well-used pad (which is soft and not so abrasive) for removing scratches on my Pam brushed steel case. But must be very careful to rub it gently in the same direction.

Caveat: try it at your own risk.
