I initially wanted to buy a Rollie too... but my soon-to-be CFO said something, "well, I'm ok! but it depends if you'd rather give your $$ to an AD for a watch, or use the $$ for the once-in-a-lifetime event lor..."
People who buy Rolex are followers who don't have a mind of their own. They are firm believers of Rolex's marketing hype that they can only be successful in their lives if they own Rolex watches. They feel insecure if the watches on their wrists are not Rolex watches. They will have all sorts of questions in their weak minds. Naturally they need their wives to tell them what is appropriate. It's funny to see how people continuously rationalize and justify the lack of their own minds and lack of financial abilities.
My wife recently asked me if I had been spending too much on watches. I told her that I had already given half of my assets to her. She should not deny my right to enjoy my watch collection as life is unpredictable. I might not be around anytime if something unfortunate happened. She said if that was to happen, I could leave those money behind to my wife and children. I told her, "Please do not treat my money as your money. I know what I am doing." And that shut her up.

I understand.. This is call MUTUAL RESPECT
Life is a gamble. It's either you win or you lose. But if you don't even dare to try... You are destined to be a loser
Not sure what the fuss is about. These days relationships are more opened and as long as once in a while purchase, it's ok. Why need to ask permission, really silly

Now u know y I said earlier I buy Rolex? Not because I feel insecure but because I double confirm I will not want to be in the same situation as u r in. I guess the Brand Rolex owe u big time bro. Will other brands help? I seriously doubt so. Anyway sincerely hope everything is ok between u and your spouse ok. Don't because of buying some stuffs then have conflicts. Not worth it too.

Agree with you that a nukber of people buy Rolex because of brand thinking can show off while there are so many other nicer and better watches around. Sold by marketing hype. Each time see ah bengs wear uncle Rolex makes me laugh. However not sure classifying them as being weak minded though. As long as they happy.
