Why are the MOP, diamonds and meteorites etc so expensive?

Have u guys ever wondered why the special dials make the watch so much more expensive? Whats so special about their Mother of Pearl? Is the meteorite dial really from meteorites?

actually, i once heard from AD that Tudor and Rolex use the same MOP supplier but Tudor watches cost so much lesser...
