  • Dssd servicing questions

    Hi all

Could some kind bros advice me how much is it to service a dssd? The movement I meant.

I heard it is more expensive to remove it due to 3900 waterproof

    Any advice welcome thanks!!

i don't believe it's going to be significantly more expensive than a normal sport rolex. i remembered servicing the older SD and it was the same price as a sub (ie, both have nothing unusual that needed replacing).

all RSCs have a recommended servicing rate sheet, so go in and ask for the actual cost. only RSC can pressure test the DSSD.

Last I checked,it was the same as any rolex sports, in the $900 + region.

Not just servicing the movement, it includes pressure testing it to 4,875 m, 25% more than the stated depth.

Previously, its rumored that all Deepsea have to be send back to Switzerland for the pressure test cause Singapore RSC don't have the Deepsea Test Tank but Singapore RSC confirmed that they have it here and pressure test for the Deepsea is done here.

p.s. Asked about replacement of the ceramic bezel, was quoted $1,400 for it.

        Hi taxico hi ryuden

Thanks for your replies and information!!

        Last question
I could send the dssd to a 3rd party to service and it will probably be half of Rsc 's cost right?

Yes surely you can. The movement in the Dssd is the standard 3135 movement which any competent watch repairers can and able to service and of course the price will be significantly lesser than rsc.

However,if you are the type who is concern about pressure testing your Dssd to its stated depths, non other than rsc is able to do that for you.

Some don't really bothered with pressure testing it to its stated depth and opt for 3rd party servicing and take the standard 100m pressure testing which is widely available at most 3rd party servicing as good enough for water related activities.

          It really depends on individual.

to save half the cost... if you were to add in the price of parts that RSC will replace for you (crown, tube, mainspring, all gaskets - there are A LOT of gaskets) + a polish (included in price of service at RSC), it is likely to be the same price.

but you get a watch that has not been properly pressure tested beyond 50-100m, old parts reused, suspect lube used, no 2 year international warranty, no free timing adjustments and free pressure proofing during warranty period.

most importantly, the watch case will likely not be closed at the correct torque nor serviced in the right environment.

is it worth it to save $450?

generally speaking, it comes with a 2-year international warranty.

                  Thanks for the clarification taxico.

So in theory, if I service every 2 years, I should have unlimited warranty?

                    Hi ryuden and taxico

Thanks for your kind advice yes points taken. I'm probably not gonna dive 3900 meters/feet anyway but it's probably not worth 450sgd either.

                    Thanks once again!!

Send to RSC and risk your precious drsd dial damaged by RSC. They will only replace it with white dial or ifbkucky, lumi drsd dial. Why take the risk to send to rsc for servicing n WR test, as if u gonna go swimming in your vintage sub?
