I have many watches. I wear different watches on different occasions. I wear a $10 Schore watch from Bugis Street. I also wear a $50k watch. Sometimes I don't wear a watch and check my handphone for the time.
I know multi-millionaires and billionaires who wear Casio watches. These are the people who command my respect.Originally posted by goldvision View PostBe it a Datejust or Submariner, Rolex watches are everywhere.
You can spot Rolex watches on the hands of coffeeshop uncles, cleaner auntie, ah bengs, ah lians, Taka Jewellery Malaysian sales staffs, bank tellers, rotten gamblers etc. Can you talk about taste and exclusiveness with Rolex watches?
After my 3rd Rolex watch, I got really sick of the brand. I sold off all of those and vowed never to wear another one again.

First you sound like an elitist when you said you are sick when those people whom you listed down, which you probably look down on because apparently they are wearing something enough for you to feel disgusted about.
Then you trying to be humble to say you respect multi-millionaires who wear casios.
A millionaire who wear casio can act humble. A coffee-shop uncle with Rolex could be worn with love given from a filial son or with his hard earn money. It's their pride on their purchase, you have no right to bash them with trash talk. And i think a millionaire also don't need your fake respect.

We live in a society with strong purchasing power. It's a good sign that you see kopitiam aunties and uncles wearing Rolexes, either from their hard earned cash or from a loved one.
But kids in school wearing Rolexes...that's a different story.

I feel it's passion and aspiration that drives an individual to purchase, own and cherish their choice of their grail watch. It's a personal journey and I think nothing can replace that nor will it be easily swayed by what others do or say (especially for those who are not well off). Just sharing my 2cents...and yes Rolex is perpetual
