there is a difference between manufacturing tolerance level and carelessness. some markings/scratches are inevitable and some can be avoided if they put more effort in doing so. even when customers told them specifically to be careful, they chose to ignore it and rectify the issues after causing the damages. things like masking tapes on lugs can easily avoid all these simple issues.

i have friends that purchased all those high end bergeon spring bar pliers just to remove the bracelets before sending in their watch for servicing.

They don't need to justify their prices - they are not a charity. Like pegasi mentioned, they are a business with the intention (like most other businesses) to maximise their profits.

I really don't see the point of this discussion. If they had lowered their servicing charges and announced that authentication services from now on would be free, I doubt anyone would ask them to justify that.

i can pay for the authentication if they can promise a good job. i only purchase watches from local AD and not grey sellers because I dread of bringing in the watch for authentication. because of my previous experience with them, i am willing to pay 1.5k more at the AD than buying an overseas set from the sellers here.

well. it is right to charge whatever amount as they deem fit. but service standards must be relevant according to the prices they charge.

i do not mind paying for good services but it does not justify scratching up customer's watch when trying to rectify problems with their products.

i had a 16570 serviced due to loose rotor error. watch came back with deep scratches on the lugs. asked them to touch up those lugs and I am perfectly fine with it. went home and saw a piece of scotch tape squeezed underneath the case back. brought the watch back for them to removed the tape and asked them to be careful when doing the job. watch came back with 4 identical marks on the lugs again. they offered to touch up again and it came back with rounded and worn lugs. bear in mind that the watch was purchased BNIB and 1 week old when I brought it in.

you can charge whatever prices which are acceptable to customers but make sure that you do a good job. i think i am not the only one experiencing such poor services from rsc singapore. there are quite abit of such stories on watchuseek and TRF.

I am just curious, after experiencing and reading so many bad experiences and feeling so ripped off by Rolex, what make you continue to be involved with Rolex?

I do not have any issues with the rolex brand but some issues with rolex singapore. i envy those people at TRF and watchuseek with positive experience with their local RSC. RSC singapore used to be good during the 80-90's, i accompany my dad to fix up his rolex watches and all came back without issues.

I also had some good experience with them in 2004. It was in 2006 then services became relatively bad.

I am thinking, perhaps you can start a thread on "How to own a Rolex happily" or "Smart ways of owning a Rolex" (tips on avoiding scratches from RSC or avoid RSC totally, where to get the best deals including bringing Rolex to HK for servicing etc).

Those would definitely be more positive and more beneficial to this community

actually there is no need to start such a thread. anyone who have experienced once will get the story themselves. i am seriously thinking of getting my watches service at rsc hong kong. i do not mind going there twice to send the watch and collecting it. i will treat it as a subsidize tour and to prevent my blood pressure from bursting upwards.
