True..These predators feeds off the power of fear in their prey through deception to lure you into a trap. Also visual and verbal intimidation are used to distract or position you for physical control and violence. As mentioned, most criminals are seeking an easy victim not an opponent to detour their power play. So maybe the Rolex goes hand in hand with self defence 'tools'. Now that the prices of new Rollies are on a new high, it might make sense to be more careful.

true...better be careful...after all asians are in a disadvantage when come to physical size and brute force...when i was in perth in 1998, i always keep a blade with me when i went out after 6pm....luckily the blade is unused and didn't saw any actions although there are various close calls...Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak
Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen

A friend has his treasured Explorer Orange hand stolen in his office in China. They had pumped some sort of gas to knock him out. He only awoke several hours later. His office is on the 7th floor by the way - with reinforce grills. He believed the burglars fished his brief case out. The watch is in the briefcase with 30K.
A self defence awareness is good. A self defence tool can generate an aura of confidence which can be an unconscious deterrent to the would-be-attackers who are looking for an easy prey. Whether it is luck or not, its better to be prepared than to ask 'why did this happen to me?'.

Here in the UK, the govt has recently made it an offence for anyone to carry a knife - in an attempt to address the problem of stabbings amongst youths. This country is afraid of its young - pathetic really! Carrying a blade for self-defence is not worth it, if caught with one, an arrest will be made. Some youths recently stabbed a pensioner to death for his £20 mobile, imagine what they'd do for a Rolex worth £500. Most people in this country insure their watches and jewellery.
When I first went to Birmingham University as undergrad, the rule was you never go out alone when it's dark - anywhere in the UK. Students were most commonly mugged of their laptops and mobiles when walking to and fro the halls. Most victims were asking for it by talking on mobile and not storing their laptops in rucksacks. This was sometime ago, but I'm sure the Guild of Students continues handing out free panic-alarms to students.

Best adv is be careful at all times.. be it you are wearing a real Rolex or not... always stay on the "bright" side.. and if you must go to the dark side.. put your valuables out of sight.. Prevention is better than cure..
