Advisory: Which tool?

Hi guys,

After reading through some threads, I went down to Rochor Centre and bought myself 2 Bergeon tools, the 6767F and the 6826PF, for removing and putting on my bracelet.

To my dismay, when I reached home and tried to use them, they were both too big to fit into the spring bar!

In my frustration, I filed dow the forks carefully, and still can't get them to fit. If I file them anymore, the 2 sharp points on the fork will disappear.

It looks like I just wasted $300.

May I ask tool tool can actually fit into the spring bars of a 42mm Explorer? It is really narrow.

No go at Daiso.

The smallest screwdriver they have is 1.4mm wide. My Bergeon tools are 1.1mm and they can't even fit.

I need something that's 1mm wide at most.

For the price you could have got the Bergeon 6825 Pliers along with the Bergeon 6111 Replacement Pin & Fork 1mm wide

I actually did buy the 6825PF, which I thought would fit, but they didn't.

Would the replacement forks for the 6111 fit the 6825? It does seem like they would since they're just pins.

I bought my mini screwdriver set from Daiso, just check moments ago, it has a 1mm wide one.

I decided after dinner to give it one last go and file down the forks of my 6825-PF some more, and not care whether I destroy them in the process. Brought out my files and started filing.






With lots of patience, I finally got them to juuuuuuuust fit the spring bars. And what a tool when it actually fits! Taking off my bracelet literally took seconds and without a single scratch!




So for anyone who's thinking of getting a Bergeon 6825-PF to take off your new oyster bracelet, it won't work right out of the box. But with some fine files and a lot of patience, you can make it work.

went to one of the shop that sells watch tools today and check with them if there is different size fork. the answer is no.

the other option to use is use 1.00mm screw driver

Indeed a great tool. But do they sell smaller fork? So I dont hv to file it ?

the tools i use are the screw drivers below.

left is AF screw driver, right is horotec

there is a subtle difference between the AF and horotec screw driver

AF tip is ''flat'', while the horotec tip is more "T" shape

This is where the double forked tool shines. Putting back the bracelet is indeed harder.

If you're a clutz like me, I encourage you to just buy the double forked Bergeon tool and file it down. Once you get the tips to fit, it's like magic. The feeling is like using a screw driver to drive in a screw after trying to use an allen key to do the same job. You might get the job done, but only after a long time with lots of damage.

Even with a 1mm tip, the key to easy bracelet change is the ability to depress both ends of the spring bars at once. When you can do that, it's literally as easy as putting on a pair of socks.

Did you just file 0.5mm off both the sides ? would you be able to take a close up shot of the tips ?
