  • Looking for my first rolex

Hi SGROC. This is my first post. New to the stuff. Looking for me first Rolex and some advice.

Saw a K series Sub at preown dealer. But the bezel seems badly scratched.

    1. Should I ask dealer to change the bezel? Or walk away and look for a better condition piece?

    2. Is it common to change the bezel? Will watch look "strange"? ie new bezel with old case/ dial?

    TIA for any advice.

    1. Up to dealer to change. they may adjust the price accordingly. personally up to you to decide whether you want dealer to change, or change at RSC.
    2. some people change, others dont. personal preference.

yes. except that the dial has diamonds and the bracelet is oyster, not jubilee.

Hi, I'm curious to know, why u like GMT instead of Sub:

                      1. Looks?
                      2. Function?

Am also very curious...whenever I asked the AD is it worth getting a non-sports model...they always ask me to focus on the sports range only

Are those non-sports models that bad in retaining or appreciating in value?

Mainly becos of looks. IMHO GMT looks better cos:
                          i. the GMT's bezel is almost symmetrical. i found that more appealling than the Sub's bezel which is not.
ii. also the additional gmt hand really looks cool.

Having said this, I also do like the Sub. If have $$$, would definitely get one too.

Next reason is rarity (perceived my me only. I must say I do not know enough about this topic so dun quote me on this.) When going around several pre-owned shops, i found many Subs but fewer GMTs. So i got impression that GMT is rarer (..but I could be totally wrong here...).

Final but minor reason is function. I do travel a bit in my work so the GMT function would be useful.

I think you are correct in your impression that the GMT is rarer the preowned market. Ever since it became a discontinued model, prices have gone up but owners are not selling especially those with box and paper.
