But most importantly, Chapter Ring means it can command a higher price?

chapter ring appears on a newer series starting from late "D" series or "F" series onwards but it does not mean command higher price.Just that the watch is newer.

with reference to this post. there is a image showing exactly what is a chapter ring. another term that is associated is rehaut. what is on the inner wall is the rolex words and serial number @ the six o'oclock position.
with chapter ring it can command a higher price, only under certain situations. chapter ring as mentioned by moderator illusion84 appears about 7 years ago, somewhere about 2004. so a rolex bought in 2004 will cost higher than one (same model) that is bought say in 1994. in such circumstances, if both watch condition are similar, it will naturally command a higher price in resale market. whether selling or buying. however, if the watch is produced in 2004 and there is another one (same model) in 2008, then since both have chapter ring, the one in 2004 may or may not command a higher price.

I believe if you do a search in the forum, you should be able to get the information you want. "Chapter ring" is commonly used wrongly to describe the engraved words on the inner wall of the case. It is in fact, an outer ring around a watch dial that contains some sort of unit measurement of time such as minute increments. On the other hand, "engraved rehaut", should be what sellers should use to indicate the "ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX ..." engraved in the inner wall, and not "chapter ring".

Being a Rolex forum, sgroc should promote the use of proper terminology. Maybe create a sticky thread "Glossary" under "Rolex Concierge Service" to explain words/terms related to Rolex and watches in general? In the glossary, you could also mention what the "common lingo" is for certain terms?Watches are like potato chips - You never stop at one

Oops =X
Ok I stand corrected!
The part which has the roman numeral print around the dial is the actual CHAPTER RING.
This below is the engraved rehault
But everyone knows it as chapter ring.
Sometimes forgotten, but always contactable. Darkangel (2007-2014)
