  • Watch Polishing - RSC vs JW watch/Top hours

    Fellow bros,

My dad has rolex, which has scratches to bracelet and casing due to normal wear, and he is think to send for polishing to remove the scratches.

I checked with RSC, was quoted $300 and both JW and TH quoted $60 and $75.
As it is first time sending watch for polishing, just to seek all the experienced bros here that besides the price difference:
    1. any comment on the workmanship of JW and TH polishing?
    2. If to choose between JW and TH, which would you recommend? Why?

    TIA

Even if both equally good, the waiting time is another factor you may consider. This, you must check at that point in time when you are sending in the watch.

I go for the one with the fastest turnaround time as 3 of the mentioned places are good!

Here's a photo which I took when my colleagues watch was sent for polishing (Before)

Here's after the polishing done. Look at the big difference.

i agree with that the end result is good. however, like many rolex lover, i am also interested to know how much they polished off especially the lug area.

i would sacrifice for looks as good as new versus slightly polished. why? this is because eventually the watch will be scratched again for whatever reason.

if in order to get 'as good as new' means deep polishing, i rather not. it is therefore important to let the watch technician/ repairer know this before hand.

recently i found one watch technician/repairer who does it according to my 'specification' and the turn around time is within 1 week. price is about ~70. i dont mind pay more but light polishing is done where-ever possible.

If not too particular, I think it's better to wait till next service for polishing.

Bro triton's light polish request is also good.

Many watches are over polished to get the new look.
But for shops/dealers they always polish to make the watches look better.

A 5-8 year watch that's never polished and no scratches is quite impossible.

Cape cod can get at DIY store @9.90 when they have stock.
You can use it to tidy up the watch.
Definitely less material loss even to light polish.
