  • What is "un-named warranty"?

Sometime found ads mentioning that "warranty card un-named and undated". Undated means it is not dated but what is un-named? Is that usually for the AD (either local or overseas) to put down their name there? If it is "un-named", what does that mean?

For "undated", if not buying from AD, then can we simply continue to leave it "undated" forever? In that case, how to determine warranty period, esp in the absence of invoice? Eg, when there is no invoice, one can simply put down any date on the warranty card but would RSC honour the date of that card as the starting date of the warranty period?

Sorry for noobs question, pls enlighten.

    Cheers!

un-named + dated = the warranty card is without the buyer name(leaving it blank) but with the purchase date or post dated comes with dealer's chop

un-named + undated = the warranty card is without the buyer name & the purchase date comes with dealer's chop

RSC will usually look at the serial and the number to determine roughly which year is the watch produced and they could check or guage from the serial and number.

For warranty period, usually if bought brand new ur warranty card is typically useless as the watch can last u for at least 5 yrs and above before ur 1st servicing but warranty period is only for 2 yrs.

As mentioned, even if there's invoice,if u can talk through the dealer to post date ur warranty to at least a yr or more, the invoice will also be sort of useless.

You could put any date on the warranty card but if ur model is an older serial and the production period is far off from the warranty period, I doubt you could fool RSC.

Am no expert, dun flame me if there's anything not right.Just my humble view.

    Thank you.

Thanks very much for the input.

So can I say, if buying new one either from AD or grey:

      1. the invoice is literally "useless" as far as RSC warranty is concerned.

      2. the date stamped on the warranty care is also basically useless because (a) typically things won't go wrong, at least for the first 2 years and (b) RSC will not use it as reference to gauge the start of the warranty period.

      3. "un-named" only refers to no buyer's/owner's name. AD's name (be it local or overseas) by default, must always be stamped on the warranty card already, right?

By the way, I do find the AD's stamp on the back of the warranty card, and also a day stamped. I don't seem to see any space for the buyer/owner name though....or have I missed it? I suspect in most of the cases, no owner/buyer would put their names down on the warranty card?..

      Thanks!

No. In most cases, the AD will have to put the name of the buyer/owner as it is a regulation of sort. Even the date as on the day it is bought. At least most ADs I know are strict on that. Of course there may be few who flout these regulations.
