Crown at fully unscrewed position

hi,

i noticed from the various pictures posted that many people leave the crown of their watches fully unscrewed. I wonder what is the rationale behind this?

i guess to stop the second hand (or the wheel in this case) so that easier to take picture....

I leave it locked, unless i want to adjust the time.
