I saw the list price at the RSC this morning. I think TS price is the list price. I don't think any ADs are giving any discount at the moment for the 2 new Subs. I was wondering why not get the watch (BNIB) from sellers in the Garage section at a cheaper price, like below $9k! Most of these sellers are forumers here and are tructworthy. I have purchased my Green Hulk last month from a fellow forumer at a good price, while 2 ADs were offering me at $13k!!!Wishlist :

I just happen to past by the shop that day and decided to check out on the new sub model and subsequently decided to get it as it was the last piece. But as I wasn't carrying so much cash with me so the AD allowed me to place a non-refundable 2K deposit to secure the watch and lock-in the price. You mean it is not a norm practise?

Fabian, don't worry about it. YOU DID THE RIGHT THING. You are basically a sincere and genuine buyer who has decided to make a purchase. That's why the salesperson asked for a deposit from you until you can raise the entire pruchase price. You have already decided! It's no different from buying a property or a car.
This is not an unreasonable practice. Imagine if you are the salesperson. Someone agrees to buy from you and said he will come back. You hold the watch for him and tells all potential buyers that you have sold the last piece. Then this client of yours has a change of heart after checking that there are cheaper offers elsewhere, and so did not come back to you. You are still left with an unsold watch. It's not a nice feeling.
If you agreed to buy and have the watch held for you, and then change your mind about it, then you have simply played the salesperson out. This is unprofessional. There are many forumers who have given their feedback in the Feedback Section about unprofessional conduct in the Garage section. It's just not right to get out of the deal when you have already agreed to it.
For your next purchase (we are all collectors here), what you should do is to conduct your own due diligence, ie, do your homework and research first before making a decision. Stalk the watch. Eat, breathe and dream about it. This way, you know that you are making the best purchase. Lastly, as a guide "Don't scare got money can't buy, but scare don't have the money to buy." Good luck to your future purchase!Wishlist :

I think you all missed the point. It is definitely normal to place deposit for a watch, even for a ROLEX. But most often than not, ADs I've come across seldom asked for a deposit and even if I requested to place a deposit, some ADs would still say "No Guarantee" (to get the watch so soon or at the price quoted there and then). Can anyone then guarantee that the price quoted today by an AD will definitely be fixed/same when the watch arrives in the next few weeks/months?
Hence in TS' case, it is not normal because to place a deposit to secure a watch and at the same time, secure a price, is something I've not met.
