  • Re: Sea Dweller sapphire glass

Hi, need advice for my SD. I drop my SD today and resulting some chipping off the edge of the sapphire glass.
    1. Can i get the sapphire glass changed at the Rolex service centre?
    2. If yes, do they change the whole bezel with the glass or can just change the glass alone without changing the bezel?
    3. Can anyone advise Approx. how much to get it fix?

Thank you in advance for your advices.

    Hi,

Sorry to hear that, however not too much to worry as the SD does not have cyclops, it's cheaper to change as compared to Subs.

    3. Can anyone advise Approx. how much to get it fix? IMO, less than $200

this is quite common in rolex watches and many people live with it.

if there is no crack across the crystal, you don't take it under water, it is not sharp (eg, cause cuts), i would leave it until the next time i need a service.

always cheaper to get such cosmetic problems fixed during a full RSC service.

I think it should be able to be replaced. Btw, how did you damage it? Can share? I just worried if I damage my own SD too. I understand the glass is much thicker than Submariner.

As long as the watch is dropped onto a hard surface and if you are unlucky enough that it lands glass-side down, 99 times out of 100, it will break.
