  • Buy a Rolex without paper and box

    hi
i wonder can i buy a watch without paper and box, but what happen if my watch need to service after that?

yes you can buy it without box/paper.

you can still send it into RSC for servicing without box/paper... but...

if the watch is found to be reported as "stolen/missing" then you will be informed about it.

if the watch is fake, you will also be informed about it.

so it's probably best to fish out $75 and have it authenticated by RSC before handing over your hard earned money.

if it's not a lost/stolen watch or if it's not fake, RSC will treat it like any other watch and service it if you want them to.

once your first year is up; just pay loh. money more important than the paper.

as for stolen watch; i have found rolex to be more lax over the years. many years back, i would be given **** by the aunties servicing my watch (purchased from my uncle). now i go back to service watch, they also cbf checking details

RSC would hold the watch first and let you know that it has been listed as stolen/lost.

if you provide them with an official purchase receipt, they will release the watch back into your custody.

otherwise they will hold the watch for the original owner or release it into the authorities' care (if they cannot locate the original owner)

either way, police will be informed and from there on, it's up to the local laws/courts to decide who gets what.

this varies from country to country.

according to HK collectors, RSC HK will first check their local database - if the watch is not flagged as locally purchased, it will take longer than 15 minutes.

eg, to service a foreign rolex watch, it can take up to 2 weeks before verification is received from geneva... only then will they commence the job!

i also must add, most RSCs will only check their local loss/stolen register. ie, if the watch is reported lost in US, i don't think it will be flagged in singapore.

this i can confirm. i did ask the auntie at rsc last time. they say is local only.

but in oz, never check who services the watch. last time my mom got her dj done, they just service and take cash. never ask or check who the original owner is
