  • 'Definition' of Low Balled

Anyone cares to comment the 'definition' of 'low balled'?

How much less is then considered as 'low balled'?

    5%? 10%?

What is the acceptable and reasonable 'discount' can a potential buyer asks for, without creating any uneasy or ill feeling to the seller?

Low balled ah...let's say more than $500 diff from what you posted? Even at $500 that's too much

        Hi bro dacky,

We've discussed this before so it's a "personal definition", I suppose. Like what bro andrew mentioned, it will be difficult to determine "low-ball" if the seller priced his/her watch high. Then again, referring also to bro andrew's post, not everyone gets the same discount. Then how?

I think when one wants to sell anything in a public sphere, it is imminent such issue will arise. Best is to maintain open whether you are selling or buying. Nevermind if you are low-balled, or you low-balled others. IMO, just be reasonable. If people low-ball you, reject politely, if you low-ball people (unintentionally), apologise readily.

there is no clear cut definition of low balled.

i agree with pilotsnopy, Darkangel and AndrewTay comments.

pilotsnoopy indicated - will not lowball a carrot head hunter.

it is true, there are people attempting to sell bezel protector where some people can get them from AD for free.

some people sell accessories such as rolex anchor for 40 where one can cost just 25. @ 25, there is already a profit, so if someone attempt to sell it @ 40 and i ask for 25, which is asking close to 50% off, is it term low balled?

Darkangel indicated that 500 off which is considered low balled. his comment is true only if the asking price is considered as +-5% average selling price. if seller ask for 15,500 for a BNIB daytona(PI set; current ) then potential ask for even 200 may be termed low balled already. need not necessary have to reach 500.

AndrewTay indicated that it depends on the watch condition. there are some sellers who may ask for average selling price but their condition is not considered the average selling price condition. hence, if one offers say another 300 off for polishing, i think is reasonable if taking the watch to AD to polish for say just SS models.

also the AGE of the watch will determine its selling price. if i sell my 15 year old explorer II and want to sell for 5.8k and some one offer me 1k less, i wont even say it is low balling my offer.

bottom line i feel that one should look around @ the market selling price of the condition and age of item. then make an offer you feel it is right for u to pay.

buyer always want the lowest price. seller always want the highest price. it is how both parties reach an agreement of the price.

low ball is subjective and pertains to the seller. Some feel 1k ok. some feel 100 is already lowballing him (just to see him have to reduce price by 100 a few weeks later when it doenst move )
I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch.........
