How to clean/wash a watch?

All Rolex Pro, please advice how to wash/clean watches and how often. I do not know how to take care of watches till i get to know about this forum.

I own a Bvlgari, Omega, Tag, DJ and just got my new 16610. For the past years I washed all my watches once a year using toothbrush with hand soap brushing all over the watch up, down,left, right, coner (just like how you brush your teeth)and dry it with tissue paper....is it ok and won't spoil the watch? So far all my watches is still working and have no problem.

Please advise me the proper way to wash/clean watches.
