What does Calibre stands for?

Hi all Lao Jiao,

May I know what does calibre stand for? Different brands of watches has different calibre and what is so unique on this calibre things. Pls help to provide feedback on this.

calibre is commonly used to refer to the size and configuration of the movement in a watch.

the naming is just the different companies' way of calling their movement.

e.g. tag ikes to use calibre 6, 17, etc etc etc...Omega calls their co-axial 2500C, etc etc etc...

just naming convention (my guess)
