Oh one way that I have been using to try to "beat" (or rather minimise) the wear & tear thingy is to use a timer!
I set my timer (those you connect to the power point) for the winder to run only for about 8 hours every night. Hence, every night around 12mn, the winder will start and by 8 in the morning, it will stop. This way, it keeps the watch moving but minimises the wear and tear factor compare to leaving the winder to wind your precious gems the whole day. The latter will wear out your parts much faster! This way, we can have the best of both world.
