2 watch winder place in safe

Hi,
I bought a 2 watch winder place it in the safe using 2 AA batteries, problem
is the batteries don't last more than 3 week, I rather used AC adaptor but I have to drill hole behind the safe, the adaptor socket is 9mm thick whereas the cable is 3mm thick,

I trying to dismantle the electrical adaptor so that I can drill 3mm hole in the safe and push this 3mm cable thru. Seem that its impossible to dismantle the adaptor
head. Any one tried doing this before?

My advice is not to drill any holes. The safe has been fire-rated as-is...no lobang included.

The easiest way is to parallel the battery pack and use D-size batteries.

AA-size batteries has capacity of only 2,500mAH whereas D-size batteries are about 18,000mAH

When you parallel 2 packs of D-size batteries you'll double the capacity, which is 36,000mAH
(Note:- Batteries in parallel gives same voltage output but double the capacity)

Let's do some math...
Motor with load (watches) will consume about 40mA (I've tested all china/taiwan made motors)
Divide 2500mAH by 40mA = 62.5hrs
However, i assume the winder has a 'stop' or 'pause' in its winding sequence; so this saves a little power thus making it last for about 3weeks.

Now, if we use 2packs of D-size batteries in parallel, we get...
Divide 36,000mAH by 40mA = 900hrs

So (in theory) if we equate 62.5hrs = 3 weeks, then with 900hrs... your winder should last about 10mths.
A lot of other factors will determine this calculations... such as weight of the watch, type of batteries used, etc.

Never drill hole on safe. It's supposed to be break-free and fireproof. In any case, I feel winder should not be placed inside safe. The daily wear watches put in winders while the more expensive and seldom wear then put in safe.

I was thinking of plugring into external battery pack. Understand it can last for more than a year for a single winder. Cheap somemore.
