If nt I was thinking dont get winder, but put in more effort to wi.d e watch daily.
Haha but think of it like quite stupid to do tt for an auto watch
Let me teach you a trick. Just put your automatic watch on your palm and swing left to right about 50 to 80 time. I guarantee it would not stop for the next twelve hours. Tried it on the Rolex as well as ball watch. You need not need to buy a winder nor spoilt the crown and can use the money to eat at 67 storey. BTW, it is not cheap repairing a spoilt crown...
Ok, I just picked up this set of 12 winders a couple of days ago. Am in between watch purchases and while waiting for funds to be replenished, I just needed something to cure the itch. Bad excuse I know. But what the heck and the 2 main reasons why i decided to get them were solely down to convenience and the overall display and storage purpose that to me looks pretty good. Didn't give much thoughts to the technical aspect nor the argument of "preservation of the watches with or without the winder."
Have set it to bi-directional mode running 672TPD and the watches are still ticking. So will see how it goes from here.
And I must say the "Superdome" looks pretty good no? LOL

Tagging on the thread topic, I'm quite interested to purchase a watch winder from this forum. I only wear my 116610lv during weekends. And my wife's lady DJ 31mm will also likely be worn maybe only 2-3 days a week. Would like to seek the experts help here if I'm able to get a reliable watchwinder from roc forum and if so which type and vendor should I buy from? Kindly PM to avoid stepping on anyone's toes. Would really appreciate some kind advise.
Currently I'm looking a few models advertised in the forums and there's a few designs I like. Wondering if 1 or 2 rotors will be good enough for me.
interestingly that the threads are said to be damaged by constantly unscrewing and screwing in the crown where it is commented by a watch winder site. is it trying to convince people to buy winders?
scenario -
if a watch is constantly being put on a winder, it means that the watch is constantly working every day regardless if the watch is on a wrist or otherwise. will it require constant service as a result of 'working daily'? likewise with a car engine, if it is working constantly, it means that it will reach its 10k, 20k, 30k,40k,.....servicing faster meaning more money has to be spent on servicing the moving parts?
constant servicing will cost more than repairing the worn out threads?
it is mentioned that you damaged the threads of a vintage rolex, is it due to the age of the watch itself considering that it is a vintage watch or is it caused by you constantly unscrewing and screwing in the crown or both or other factors are involved?
it is noticed that in the article it mentioned that automatic cannot be over-wound. however, constant activating the slipping clutch will it lead to the slipping clutch to be damaged faster?
there are many different school of thoughts. a watch winder is more of a convenience for me rather than any other reasons. however, a watch that would require a winder is a perpetual calendar due to its cumbersome process of setting the time if it stops because one has to adjust the day, date, month, year, leap year, moon phase (if present).
If watch is not put on winder and you need to adjust the time everytime you want to wear them, means you need to screw and unscrew your crown. Over years, consistant wear will damage threads. I read this some place on watch winders and sadly I also experience this with a my vintage rolex (maybe due to careless handling too), had this repaired outside.
Is frequent resetting the watch by hand recommended?
No, not in the long term. Manually resetting or rewinding your watches using the watch's screw down crowns will cause a problem over the long run, namely, thread wear. That is, manually unscrew the crown to wind and reset the watch by hand will eventually cause wear and tear to the crown's thread and other mechanism, in particular the gasket employed to water-seal the watch. Thus, frequent resetting the watch manually is not only inconvenient, it is also not recommended as doing so would accelerate wear and tear to the watch in the long term.

Thanks for the advice. Been looking at all the watchwinders gurus posts here. Any recommendations from whom to buy in roc? I'm thinking of seriously getting 1 here.
I believe there are few local vendors here in the forum who are selling these winders. You may want to make enquiries with them using Mr triton's pointers, see if any of them fulfills those criterias. Thereafter you can make a decision. Just a suggestion
