flipped my 100XL for pam312. Santos somehow seems too dressy for me, but i must mention that the 100XL sits very comfortably on my 6.75" wrist. Another consideration is the limitless choice of aftermarket straps for pam, on the other hand, Santos aftermarket straps are very limited.

Price for preown I would say roughly about the same so caught between this 2 models. Which would better for a daily beater in office wear?

Agree that it's abit to dressy but really love that squarish look. Another thing is that understand that Pam is manual winding, not sure about the santos. Self wind?

I am not very sure but I think both do not come with the date? You are correct, the PAM is manual wind while the Cartier is automatic. And hence, in terms of a more suitable 'daily beater in office wear', the Cartier suits much better.

                    Tough choice mate !

I have owned both so here are my 5 cents worth.............Both watches looks good with strap ....................but Panerai is more user friendly when it comes to strap changing (I hate the way cartier fold their straps at the end of the deployment buckle !)

There are more Panerai straps to choose from in the market than cartier....so 2 points for Pam

Handwinding or automatic ........prefer automatic as I am lazy ! 1 point for Cartier

Price wise they are quite close ard $5k in the preowned market

100m water resistance vs 300 m............pam wins 2 folds ! You can swim with the rubber so 3 points

In term of servicing both are simple ETA movement so no problem

Cartier is slighty more dressy where Panerai can be sporty or dressy with a change of strap 1 more point goes to the pam

In terms of resale both are quite popular watches so no problem when you need to sell & up grade

As for comfort wise the Cartier sits on the wrist better so 1 more point for the Cartier

Cartier is flat Panerai is thicker & heavier

Both have simple & nice dial

Both are easy to match with any clothings

I chose to keep the pam & sold the Cartier after knowing all these ......hope it helps my friend

Santos 100XL man. How many square watches out there can look this good at that price point? Round watches u have many to choose from.

So Santos 100XL for the diversity, white face and definitive Roman numerals.
