to be honest, I actually didn't like the guard around the ground of the luminor series but I find myself getting really lured to the watch each time I walk past the boutique at Ion. However, the high prices are really a concern, and thus I wonder how the resale is.

There are also so many models to choose from, making it more of a headache for a greenhorn like me. just gotta continue reading thru each thread. So much invaluable info in this. thks

        Simple.

Present tense. See pple wear look quite sard, I think if I wear I look equally sard. That was how i bought my 1st Panerai.
Cut the crap about history and pam DNA thingy. I bought then I went about learning the history.

        Plain and simple.

True! I only "research" about the history after I decided I wanna add a Pam to my watches.

Why I bought a Pam? Crown guard, sandwich dial, seconds hand at 9 o'clock, clean, clear and simple design, versatile with straps changing. At first I was a bit apprehensive about its ETA movement and I don't like manual winding (lazy me).
Then when the in-house 3-day auto movement came along... haha... that's it!

          I have a Pam 312 by the way ;-)

Simple and clean design, and the big diameter fits nicely on my big wrist!

Like many said. Sandwich dial, crown guard, options on straps, clear case back lastly I like to wind it manually everyday. The size is good too, 44mm and now my 16710 is resting in watch box most of the time.

If you want a watch that change the personality depending on your mood, get a Pam there's no other watch that can do it better just by changing the strap.

To put it simple: Nice watch, Good watch, reasonable price.

No contradickSON. Good time buy, bad time sell. Panerai have high resale value and the demand is always there.

price was reasonable before it became popular

i like the simplicty of the Panerai diver watches.

there is something weird with panerai pricing for their inhouse movement and third-party movement - those with similar functions are priced too close (eg compare 104 with 312)
hence models with decorated ETA ebauches (OP caliber) appear to be overpriced, while those with panerai inhouse movement (P caliber) appear relatively cheap

could be because panerai inhouse movement are still new hence the low pricing to attract buyers
good to grab them now, before panerai price their inhouse movement higher to differentiate them from the third-party movements

Versatility and the ease in changing the looks with so many strap options available in the aftermarket
You can make the watch look formal with a good croc strap and casual with various calf , military , rubber or vintage look staps
