  • Buying from dealers with no shops

    Hi all,

Have anyone bought any PAMS from the dealers without a shopfront? I asked the seller from *** whether his BNIB piece from overseas AD comes with receipt and he says Panerai dont issue receipts? Kind of weird to me to hear of such explanation.

Either he got his fact wrong or he tried to bluff you. Or the watch is from one of those under-table deals.

This does not mean his watch is not genuine. It is not a common practice to resell watches with receipt, but I would not buy from someone who tells me a retailer does not issue receipt for a few thousands dollars' sale.

In the first place, why would he refer to Panerai when the watch is from an AD and not Panerai boutique? Is there any miscommunication/misunderstanding?

that's y i found it strange. i understand grey dealers would not want to produce the receipts but he actually said panerai or ADs do not issue receipts.. that got me wary.anyway, decided against buying from him

Simple lah...if u see his receipt and see how much he earn, won't look nice right. He just didn't give an excuse the people can believe that's all.

normally when my wife sell her BNIB hermes bag, she will mark off the price on the receipt
but anyway nowadays very easy mah to find how much do you actually earn...
            panerai price list is everywhere

again, maybe the seller don't want to give the receipt to you

obviously i dun mind the price difference earned since if we have come to an agreement, i would honour the price. Just wanted to have the receipt for piece of mind.

Right...even individual sellers like us...9 out of 10 wouldn't pass on the receipt even if we have...

I gave my receipt when i sold my watch.. Anyway no right no wrong, my view is that since i am selling the item, i might as well give the new buyer everything that comes with it. no point keeping it.

thats the spirit most purchasers look for in a seller ... otherwise buyers' minds will work extra time on the negatives.

Well, I don't know what this spirit thing is about but does it not make sense to you that a seller does not want to reveal his cost? In which other commercial sale/trade does a seller/retailer shows you how much they have paid for the goods?

Am I right to assume that you sold at a significantly lower price than you bought? Ok the word significant might be subjective but my point is would you still give the receipt if you sold it at a profit?

understand where u are coming from. if i were to sell at a profit, i would give buyer a photocopy of the receipt and blank out the price paid. My previous example was me selling a used piece at a lower price than cost.

seller can blanked out purchased price ... without receipt, buyer is closed to perhaps buying 'counterbrand good'; worse still amoral seller can lodge a police report that item was stolen hehehe...
if i remember correctly, all commerial transactions of repute, sellers usually issued invoice or receipt to acknowledge receipt of payments and items passed over to parties concerned ... this is just my personal observation as i am not legally trained.
