Unfortunately the base models seem to be difficult to find at the boutique. I think I'll get either a 312 or a 321 and then look around the forums for a handwind base model!

Just curious y bros here don't suggest the 112? I see many 111, 312 and 000. Isn't the 112 just as classic since it represents the very essence of a Panerai, a pure simple base model.
I went down today to try the 372 and 321 - was pleasantly surprised that due to the flatness of the 47mm 372 as compared to the "fatness" of the 321, it didn't seem to wear much larger than the 44 mm 321.
Interesting!

Modified unitaa 6497...still a reliable workhorse movement nonetheless.
For base with in house movements eg p3000 I think it starts from 372.
thought of getting a PAM000 but with the scandal of PAM318. I am slightly skeptical although some say it was a once off mistake. 000 doesn't have see through case back. Who knows what's in it...

It would be good if you can go to the showroom and have a look of the PAMs in the flesh, seeing it online and in the flesh is really different and if its possible, try on the watches and have a feel yourself. That would be the most accurate.
