This' a personal decision, I guess. Most often than not, I was approached, both from people here and outside, seeking recommendations for local ADs for new watches. Whenever I asked why they were willing to pay more to get from the ADs as compared to getting it from other sources (less expensive), most responded that they wish to buy with some form of assurance. Do take into consideration that not every one who buys/owns expensive/branded watches are savvy/experienced with watches. Then, there'll also be the hassle of getting verification services and it is more troublesome now with some brands not providing this service anymore, and of course, ROLEX making it more inconvenient already.

I bought my PAM 104 from Kenneth Chen and the stamp was from Cortina Watch (local AD).
Hope that will give you some confidence in buying from grey dealer.
I am a newbie so may be asking questions which are already known facts.
Buy seniors, do enlighten.

Another one is kopi money which is the ADs leak out watches to grey dealer in return they get some kick back kind of thing.
Grey dealers have the kind of network that is so scary.. ...However, without them, it will be difficult to buy a Pam zero without begging the ADs to sell you one :-)I own a Rolex !

Just to share a see thru case back model should have
1. The watch serial no. Like N1234/1500
2. The case back number OP6799 or etc
3. The movement number engraved
All these numbers should match the warranty booklet, with some study you should actually know what is normally come with a complet set, the last round I buy from Ad in turkey, they had not include the rubber crown protector too.
As all these premium watch is build with extreme care to perfection, if you think the quality does not match your expectation, just walk away from the sale.
