How many rounds must u wind for it to be fully funtional? I heard 40 to 50 rounds? Am right or wrong? Some say hand wound watch are more durable than automatic ? right or wrong?

Depends, it's about 70 winds for my PAM22 (Year 2000) and 50 for my ex-PAM118. But to be safe, I'll count 40 winds per day, to prevent straining the main spring.

Hmm... I guess if you are careful, manual wind PAMs are typically more durable. Many long time paneristi also claim this to be a fact. They are afterall using pocket watch movments, and the Unitas 6947 movement is a hard knocker. I've got friends who own automatic PAMs with the valjoux 7750 and have seen a couple of them break down within a year. So I believe there's truth to that statement.

Like to share a bit of noob info..

Most people like to play valjoux 7750's chorno functions cos they are amazed that mechnical movement can be use for stop watch purposes... However, valjoux 7750 is not a stable movement even if its swiss, hence even if you have a chorno watch, its best not to play with the stop watch functions..

For Manual wind watches, it is almost impossible to spoil the movement as there is a spring to prevent over winding and it take tremendous strength to destroy it by winding... however, most people still wind around 40 turns to play safe...

For automatics, there is no spring to guard overwinding...

i think you are confused.... bet auto and manual.......

manual movements do not have overwind protection.......

automatic watches have a 'slipping clutch' to prevent the user from overwinding the watch. manual watches DOES NOT have it, so if overwind, will cause mechanism to be damaged.

you may read automatic watch slipping spring

Thanks for the clearing... Sorry for misleading... What I meant the user manually wind the automatic watch by hand... not confused la.. haha

Does the automatic has slipping mechanism for manual winding? I always do wind for my own watches when I have several watches...
