    Hi Lee
The first case is quite true. But this picture is quite suspicious... the person may have done something to the watch.IMO..

Thanks for this vital heads up!!!

Just a few weeks ago I'd still asked my friend to 'tom pang' a Pam 386 when he went Germany, luckily the boutiques he went all out-of-stock!!!

Now must think 3 times about getting a composite Pam.

      A BIG THANKS!!!

Hi Luke, normally this is what I called pitting and is common with aluminum metal when in contact with sweat. Maybe the owner was not as careful when handling his 339 thinking it was super durable composite case.

For those who owns Vitus aluminum racing bikes 20 years ago will know what I mean.

Still good old stainless steel is hard to beat, so stock up on the historic models. kekekeke

omg......can't imagine if i've paid $20ish-k for it, the level of quality (or the lack of it) is simplying baffling. would rather pick up a lange-1

Yes, that is true.. i know what u meant .but the owner must be very rough,LOL..

Seriously, i have owned a 339 before and i have kept the watch for 6 months,no problems with it except the 4 screws (discoloration) when changing straps.

looking at the back case of a watch tells how well the owner looks after the watch. sometimes i'm shocked to see some back cases full of scratches.

Thks for sharing. From the thread, this does not seem like an isolated incidence. Better stick to steel or fully ceramic bezels instead of "composite" materials. I had thought the PAM 292 was fullly ceramic.

Ceramic has it's own issues reported by owner too...

the PAM 292 have a black ceramic case but comes with a steel back case with special hard black coating (as stated in the specifications). guess the "special" hard black coating was wearing off and revealing the steel underneath quite unique indeed.

Panerai has some explaining to do. Such quality is really unacceptable especially with the high number of composite watches to be released in 2011.

if hard black coating on a steel back case can wear off, then the composite treatment on aluminum would not fare any better.

key topic for the Singapore boutique openning? kekekeke
