Singapore use to be cheaper than the rest of the world in terms of Panerai due... we are slower to accept this brand when rest of the world is hot hot hot...

Now our market are more ex....cos by now we are familiar and love this brand, rest of world is dumping the usual models cheap cheap cheap.

I will not buy Panerai or Rolex or AP in Singapore, is just too overpriced here and the best part sadly is the usual no stock answer from the local ADs.
The local ADs have digged their own grave by selling watches at premiums like the Rolex hulk, daytonas, Ap volcanos, pandas and panerais, dun they know these models are no longer in demand in other parts of the world? Didn't they know do market research?
9 out of 10 frens of mine who collected watches dun bother to step into the local ADs anymore, prefer to buy here sgroc /*** and preowned shops.

Better spend your money wisely buying watches from overseas and at same time got free holidays from the savings.

It is a known fact for long that PAMs being sold at overseas AD (particularly EU) are much cheaper than local AD due to a few factors. In the PAM garage I can see that there are more PAM from overseas AD than local AD. However the stock at most overseas AD is also limited (but not as limited as the local AD) so you do need some luck to find the model you want when you are overseas.

I am quite amazed by how one of our local grey dealer xxxxxlink manage to get new stock almost everyday.

U are lucky bro.... i was quoted by local AD at ION an AP volcano at $36k. The salesman can tell me no stock and no discount and got the thick skin to tell me put name on reserve lists at this price!
Thanks and no thanks local ADs.

Eh. No offense. Local AD sell mostly to our friends from Indonesia, Vietnam, China and etc. Our friends from these countries are sick of the fakes made in their land - therefore, they come Singapore armed with loads of $ and buy the genuine watches with peace of mind. Moreover, to them - it is never about the budget.

In conclusion - the shops at ION, and etc were never opened with Singapore based customers in mind. The Singaporeans are not really their target market.

That's what I have been thinking too. Our luxury goods retailers are now ever-more focusing on the global/asia market, just like our casinos!

To quote a relative of mine who works at an AD @ Ion, when asked if there are many customers: "Not many, but most of those who walks in will buy".

Hi your friend bought from which EU country? What was the tax rate of the tax refund?

the Sing $ is very strong now, so it makes sense to buy in Europe or US, even better if we can get tax refund. same goes for overseas visitors to singapore.

however local prices always include 7% gst which is a factor to consider. if you have overseas friend visiting, you can always claim back 6% gst. for example a rolex deepsea costing $11.5k will only cost $10.8 after gst refund.
