Hi All,
As a long time Pam fan, I had seen Pam rubber strap which comes with so far 3 different type of word markings at the underside. Namely:
a) No wording at all,
b) 'MADE IN AUSTRIA' wording &
c) 'PANERAI ITALY'.
Based on hearsay from some shops, salesman, collectors, what i understand is that these straps are introduced at different years.
a) No wording at all = around year 1997-2001
b) 'MADE IN AUSTRIA' wording= around year 2001-2005
c) 'PANERAI ITALY' = around year 2005-present
QUESTION 1: can anyone, or any owner,ex-owner like to share some info and correct me if my information is wrong?
QUESTION 2: From hearsay, there may be 3 reason for the change in wording.
One is for Panerai themselves to differentiate the year/batch of the strap when they see one (or when they do recall), something like 'birthmark'.
Another reason is that sometimes they switch the supplier for their strap, hence also change the 'birthmark' so they can know which are the new ones which are the previous supplier ones.
Lastly is the 'Designer' just feels like a change.
QUESTION 3: Having said all these, I had saw and felt some Genuine rubber strap from Friends. One thing i notice is that some straps are slightly harder, some are slightly softer.(most i saw are not used by them, in new condition). So am i right to say that they made adjustment to the rubber strap 'strength' from time and time?
Sorry for the naggy, just that these are my observations and had been in my mind for quite a while, hence like to pour it out to discuss.
Cheers.
