With reference to the indicative price guide, I wonder if the 372 will still be as hot as the price is rather close to the 233.....hmmmmmm???

I think that for many folks the 372 carries enough panerai DNA to make it a must-have, hence price is a distant secondary consideration. As it happens, I fall squarely in this category so I completely empathize...

PAM372 is a one off 3000 pieces production spread over 2 years (at least that is the current info). While it is not an SE per se, it will be limited. Its the closest you can get (in terms of looks and not spending over USD100k) to the vintage PAMs...as mentioned, it oozes DNA throughout. Even the fonts are period correct. If any, one should wonder paying that much for a 233 (no offence intended at all to all 233 owners- its is a beautiful piece) when you can get the 372....for most Paneristi, USD10.1k is a steal...

Anyway, back on topic, my favourite would be the 372 and the Bronzo 382 cant wait to see them in flesh..

+1 , Zameen, all your facts is correct. And yes the 372 will be difficult to get. IMO , the price would be around USD15K with all the markets picking up.

233 CANT BE COMPARED WITH THE 372 IMO...233 WILL BE OUTSHINED FOR SURE WITH ITS BUSY DIAL(date,power reserve,gmt hand,sub sec hand dial) N BEING A 44mm in SIZE..

Really wondering wht the fuss is about DNA etc. There are so many nice PAM models this year anyway to watch out for. Happy collecting guys! For me I am targeting 2 of the SE models. Cheers!

Oh dear, dunno why but unlike most of the bros here, I'm hardly excited with any of the new series at all. And I'm not entirely sure what is Panerai's strategy of introducing so many new models every year. I wonder what will happen to the popular older series like 005, 111, 233 etc... Will they discontinue them and replace them with in house calibre? Will there be so many different models of Pam that the average watch buyer will give up because it is so confusing, except for the hardcore Pam fans? Just my thoughts...

IMHO, maybe many more manual winding models like 000, 5, 111, 112, 176, 177 & etc will use P3000 in future.
I also will not be surprised to see Panerai supplying movements to other smaller companies outside Richemont and within Richemont when ETA completely prevent any of their ebouche from being modified & only allow use without decor & modification.

All e models are really nice esp 345, 368, 375, 386 & needless to say, 372 & 373.
2011 is e best year cos I think OP covered all demands.

I'm just a little dissapointed with the P3000 cos its mvmt plates, bridges, rubies, screws, gears, escapement & regulateur locations r no longer matching vintage Rolex mvmt like what ETA6497 did for all historic Post Vendome models after '98.

One have to remember ETA6497 is a direct descendant of Rolex extra large pocket watch mvmt ref 618.

Just look at how 6497 resemble 618



IMHO, part of e reason why Post-Vendome models like 0, 5, 1, 2, 4, 9, 22, 26, 36, 55, 56, 111, 112, 115, 117, 127, 217 & 219 did so well is because their mvmt is "AESTHETICALLY" correct as they match the Rolex Cortebet 618's mvmt bridges, rubies, screws, gears, escapement & regulateur locations to 0.1mm!

One thing that I will really miss will be the Regulateur that will no longer be visible on the P3000 and the 900x & 200x as well.
I would have tot P3000 will at least has e visible regulator.
IMHO, Regulateur is Panerai's DNA!


I would have wish P3000 follow 618 layout to at least 1mm offset and keep the regulateur without infringing ETA or Rolex's patent & trademark.
Without which, IMHO, 372 & 373 can never claim 100% DNA.

However, 233 is a watch that has everything. Best in Class in terms of bang for bucks. Just like an average stock STI WRX Spec C. But its no good if you are a CAR CONNOISSEUR
