Do you guys reckon that the new P 3000 manual movement will drive down the prices for the current base Pam(ETA)?

So many new models.....supply up....IF demand not up, prices sure drop....economics 101.

I still like 339 although 372 is nice...my wrist cant take 47mm well.

OP has a large market share as the prices will still go up as most Risitis will like the "orginal" look like the 372....IMHO

I dont agree. Current model prices will at best hold flat. No chance of going up and has not been going up...apart from 339 or 341 type.

Pam does not have large market share (still relatively a smaller player globally) plus there seem to be more Pam traders than pam wearers. Many 339s are beingsold around, but how many of 'consumed' (wore) and used?

Good to have new models cos it shows that Pam is listening to the gorund and make them what they like....just don't know if they are killing the golden goose by showhanding their models all at one time.
This year got compsite, bronze, 47mm base, destro, 8 days etc.
Next year must come up with what?
Maybe that's the genuine strategy of AB.

my opinion is that the current OP calibre models will have some room for apprecitation (10-20%), due largely to the more affordable retail prices as compared to the new models with P3000 in house movement.

It did not happen when Pam introduced P.9000 on the 233. It didn't happen when 312 batch came out. Why would it happen this time.
The ETA based Pams are plentiful and have been around a long time. Their prices are quite stable. Track 5 or 177 or 24 for the past few years and you will see.
I hardly think a 10-20% appreciation of ETA based Pams is possible. Maybe we should follow Pam 0 and 5 over the next 6 months and see how.

cedric, thanks for the picture. I am very steam seeing the pictures.

Guys, I am in for Panerai not really much about the value. 372 is a little everything about panerai when they went to WW. Just like I am in for Submariner because James Bond wore it before. Okay. I am getting illusions. Bell and Ross no.. Panerai yes!
                I own a Rolex !

Agree. Pam yes, Bell and Ross No. Just hope Pam does not follow B&R marketing strategy and turn the brand that way.
You need to get a 5508 for the James Bond look. I am into Rolex bacause of Steve McQueen so a 5512 is a dream.

                      Older model price will drop?

When 1000 pieces of PAM217 was released in '05 and arrived worldwide in '06 & 7, every1 say 127 price will go down from USD11k to 9.5k to match 217's retail.

I hope so....I'm still waiting for 127 price to go down to less than SGD26k for any condition & completion since '08.

                      When 115 & 117 was announced in '02 & produced between '02 - 05 and was delivered till '06, every1 was convinced 22A, 22B-T & even NON-Tritium 22B-L price will tank between '03 - 06.
I am still waiting for the tank....

Now, in 2011 I am hearing 127 & 217 price will tank bcos we will have 3000pieces & more due to PAM372 & more from 375.
                      And 372 is regular production!
So 127 & 217 will definitely tank ka siao liao.

I'm hearing 127 price drop will be worst due to 375.
In addition, I'm hearing 249 price will also tank due to 376 and 373 even...
Plus, I'm hearing 232 price will collapse due to 373.

                      SO, I hope I dun have to wait for another 5yrs to 22A/B T/L, 127, 217, 232 & 249 to collapse.
                      Hope I can get 127 & 217 for S$13k, 232 & 249 for S$9k after 372, 373, 375, 376 & 386 hit our shores in 2 yrs time.

BUT, IMHO, I know this can only happen in my dream...

                      I personally think ppl forget PAM372, 373, 375, 375 & 386 mvmt - P3000, 900x & 200x can never replace PAM0, 1, 2, 4, 9, 22, 26, 55, 56, 115, 117, 127, 217, 219, 232 & 249 mvmt - ETA6497 that has 100% matching nuts, bolts, gears, regulator, plates, escapement, rubies & etc with Pre-V's 3646, 6152 & 6154 mvmt - Rolex Cortebert 618 in term of layout & position.

There're only a finite amount of Panerai of any model.
                      And 127, 217, 232 & 249 are SE.

IMHO, 127, 203, 217, 267 & 339 price will actually go up thanks to 372, 373, 375 & 386 as there'll be serious collector who will try to complete the their 47mm collection, especially from Lum, MM, 1950, 47mm & SE view of completeness.

Also, IMHO, 21, 232, 249, 262 & 349 will actually go up due to 373 & 376 when serious SERIAL collectors go for Rad, 47mm & SE viewpoint of completion.

                      It's like Rolex.
Ppl who got a 16610, & some will soon look & get 16660, GMTIIc, Ex & Ex2. And there're will be some who will get a 5512 & 5513 after that, of which some of who will soon get a 1655, 1665 & 1680, of which some will go for the broke to gun down COMEX, 5508, 6536, 6538, 5510, MilSub & soon, they will be going after vintage Rolex pocket watches.

It's these ppl who go for completion that support e mart.
And for Panerai where most models are <2000 pieces, it'll not be hard to see a mart support like Rolex thanks to serious collectors or even better as Panerai production is much less.

                      And back to 1, 2, 4, 9, 21, 22, 26, 28, 115, 117, 127, 203, 217, 219, 232, 249, 267, 349 & etc, their mart will always have support thanks to low volume and serious collectors, IMHO.

Price of all brands will go up & down.
The only difference is in last 2 yrs, we see some brands' price go down between 35 - 60%.
While some brand's price are able to withstand the '09 depression almost unscatched.

Last 2 yrs are the perfect situation where liquidity are tight, ppl are going bankrupt, & unemployed worldwide and we can clearly gauge for ourself how much each model from each brand withstood in term of secondary mart pricing.

BUT all this talk are BS, cos ultimately u buy what u like regardless of how unpopular, how bad the tech, design & how e watch has no history or mart behind it.
                      Price is not an issue.
                      It's a watch & u buy what u like.

If price & value for $ is an issue, I will buy a Grand Seiko, seriously, for e best quality, tech, design & value.
                      IMHO....just my 2 cents

Fred_Tan, although alot of people don't like you. But i think i like you you sound like panerai can fly! but its true. People who buy 372 and later become a collector... will go out to complete the whole collection of 47mm luminor by buying lug stock barrel 127, 217, therefore, how not to breach 30k mark. Also, the Rad. people who siao Rad will go all out to buy 249 232 and etc. the qua-essential of Rad. 12k now is consider inexpensive.

Bro, you like me, I happy.
I bet most e current 127/217/203/267/6152/6154 collectors did call their AD and boutique for 372 on Monday.
I oso think most of our 3646/21/232/249/262/349 owners called for 373 as well.

Most of our bro & sister who have waited for up to 11 yrs before I even know how to spell Oficine would welcome 372.
It has correct 'lipped' case, Aurelio dial, correct lugs that is narrower, correct sandwiched "luminor Panerai", correct square "R", correct hands shape, correct rad case on 1950 design.

It is like owning a 6152 again at a fraction of e cost.
It is a collectors dream come true.
Let hope the price stay below S$13k
