  • A Pam 36B for USD21K, what do you say folks? BUT..just the watch..no boxes, papers...

I've been offered the Panerai of my dreams...a PAM36B that is finally within my budget's striking range.

A caveat here though, I'll be paying USD21K for just the watch and a Richemont service receipt. Nothing else is included. I think if I pass on this deal, I'll never be able to get my dream 36 because the complete sets are sold for much higher prices.

So, I'm leaning towards a deal here. Any advice folks?

For Pam, no box and paper is a big no no...unless you do not intend to ever sell it, then its a great deal.

Reason....Pam collectors are quite anal about full sets...quite unlike Vintage Rolex.

I believe you already answered your own question... Dream watch within your budget, limited production of 200 units that does not become available that often... Just Do It!

I think it is not advisable to buy a watch that comes with the watch only especially for panerai. There was actually a 36b on sale at time will tell and the watch has been there for quite some time before it was sold about 2 weeks ago. The watch comes with everything except the scroll. It was priced at 28k.

If you are prepared to consider the usd21k as monies gone forever, with no hope of getting it back, and you are sure that the 36 is the end-all of your Pam collecting, go ahead and grab it.

The scroll is replaceable (I have heard it being done) abeit very troublesome. Worst is the movement sticker, which I have not heard of anyone successfully getting a replacement.

I will not buy .....not because no box nor papers.

I will not buy ....is because i will never pay so much for a Tripple T, tobacco titanium tritium watch with no functions,
prefer to get a pam 275,311,317,332 233 and still hv cash left over for another nice Rolex sports.

I will not buy .... is because the tritiums have aged nicely but the hands are not, is common to see all old or pre-vendome Pams have different colour hands as compared to the T aged dial.

I was once offered a Pam56 without papers or anything and i didnt take it up.

I am living in partial regrets, dump the money in another piece and it sure made me felt better.

But for that money, I might just consider a 127 or 217. but well, what do i know.

Looks like I could do better on my PAM36 quest and look for a complete set eventually.

Now that I've set it aside, should I then get a LNIB PAM335 for USD18.5K? That one is next on my list after the 36. I've a soft spot for ceramic watches and I think this has only 500 pieces as well.

I'll bite if it's a minimum 20% diff in pricing between
a Pam that comes as a full set or not. It's nice to have
the respective box and documents; but not necessarily
the dealbreaker. Afterall we wear the watch on our wrist
and not hang the box around our necks.

So if there's a 20% diff in pricing, just buy cheap and sell cheap
when it's time to offload - zero sum game.
