If you cannot trust anyone, than at least trust AD and buy new. If everyone who buys a pre own needs RSC (R can be rolex or richemont), then RSC really no need to do anything else.
I remember I was in japan and wanted to buy a SD at 99. Was Thinking of trading in my white expl 2. The Jap sales man said I have to leave the watch there for 2 hours for them to check it. In general, dealers (it's their rice bowl after all) are well versed and trained to spot fakes when they buy in. If they so lousy, they would not have lasted.

I believe there are times when they also "piu" (Hokkien - meaning misjudged in English) once or twice, to get better in their trade eventually..

Can also happen to RSC. So if anyone wants 100%, then buy new from AD.
Those piu cases are the rare pieces that are not well documented? Models like Pam 0 and 5, confirm 100% won't piu.

              • hi collectors, i'm curious on since the new rule from richemont starts, anyone bought pre owned pam? and do u have other means for verification on pam?
personally i had called a few watch dealers in sg, only JW and hobbylink does them. anyone got more input?
and i rem a thread i saw last time on, 'save on verification cost'... wonder if it will still work now.

I have bought and sold over 20 pams/iwc and never need to pay richemont to do what I think I can do. I only go when buyers insist they want to spent the $85 for a receipt. Think in the 5 or 6 times that was done, I take it as drink coffee and chit chat.
I am sure pams are still sold and bought.
If you trust James and Sam, buy from James and Sam. If you trust Henry and retro, buy from Henry and retro. If you only trust Sincere and Cortina, then buy from them only. So, still back to buy the seller. All sellers will verify theirs is original...who can you trust.

At Richemeont, verification means the serial number, case number, movement number all matches to the records back in Panerai since many of the OP movements are based on ETA movements which can be obtained elsewhere.

An experienced PAM collector will look for the all the original items that comes with the watch set, movement sticker, cosc cert, warranty card etc. The numbers on each of these papers should match up wth the watch itself. Also there are tell tale signs of a non-original watch.

As stated, the reputation of the seller is very important. Would you trust a seller who have only some negative transactions????

if the pam comes in full set triple boxes, cosc cert etc and there is still 2 year warranty. can authentication be done at JW pr any other watch shop?

                        • Also, he said he will do more than just verification..

he mentioned some other things that he will do as well but cannot really remember the exact details.

he did mention that if you want him to verfiy the watch, try to miss the lunch crowd.

                          • He mentioned that he will open up the watch to check the movement number plus checking the accuracy of the watch..

that's quite a quality service i must say. i asked him once and he say all these can be done while u r watching, meaning its not behind close doors. quite an eye opener i must say. so the 7% gst plus the service charge, should not bt more than richemont is once charging right?
