  • i see from another perspective, if all uses this method to authenticate watch. they can close this loophole by charging you for a quotation fee. however, if you reject to service. if you choose to service, the fee is waive off. then they charge you high fee.

    will it be worth it?

Watch was authenticate and i do not need to pay a single cent

Yes i agree... that is why Pam and Rolex are charging authentication cos too many fakes and too many ppl abuse the system. As for APs, PPs, omegas and breitlings and all other brands not covered by Richmont group.. no charges for authentication. They will never close this loophole to start charging as the main reason is this brands believe in providing a genuine customer service and protecting the buyers interest to help them authenticate irregardless of whether this guy bought from AD or grey markets or bought preown. Richmont singapore may have realise this and start to re-think their after sales sevice strategy

does it only applies to only overseas AD sets or both local and overseas AD.

It would be double standard if they were to verify local AD sets and not overseas AD sets?
Sister Pat... Richmont does not verify all brands under their care now... irregardless from oversea or local set.
All watches are covered by international warranty. All local ADs and servicing centre have to stick to this basic rule to cover all defects under warranty certificate be it from here there or anywhere....else i can assure you the local agent will lose marketing the brand.

Ditto! Remembered first biz trip to Europe, domestic flight kenna cancelled so everyone rushed to book next available flight. Most of the locals pretended to find an excuse to talk to counter staff and subsequently motor mouthed their way to jump queue and get tickets. My boss and myself were the 2 goondu Asians who patiently waited in the queue. End of the day, although we were in mid queue, no more tickets for us. We were dumbfounded at the actions of a civilized nation.

              Opps...out of topic comment.

              • From all these suggestions furnished, i personally think it's better to keep your hard earned cold-hard cash in the bank to earn interests or other investments to generate fast cash on cash than to hold a watch instead, right?

How much interest can you earn from the bank? Investment also has it's own risk. If you invested wrongly, then all you are left with is just papers (that was before it went electronic). Watches at least you can still enjoy it.

Anyway, watches are not a good form of investment. More for enjoyment & appreciation of the finer things in life. Or to commemorate a special occassion etc.......

                  Just my 2cents lah.

Maybe not enough technicians in Richmont service centre lah.

                    LOL!

                    • Actually there is really little need to authenticate a Pam. ETA movement is easy to find and easy to identify. Since it's ETA, fake also use ETA lor. What's there to check? So as long as paper, case, cosec, numbers all match...ok.

I dunno you are right or wrong.... but a fren of mine said wat you said 10 years ago.... he is still dumbfounded today by the sharp rise of Panerai from a brand no one heard off to top 3 brand in terms of sales figure now.
For me i will just let it de chui lao hokkien say follow the water.... ang moh say...let the nature takes its course.
So will Panerai lose its niche in the watch industry in future, we can only guess now..

I think buying watch could be similar to buying car. Most of the time, you'll lose money. So, it's not a good form of investment. Buy only if it sings to you.

But, if you keep the watch long enough with you, you may have sweet & fond memories when you look back. I think that's probably a better way to look at it. At least, that's the way I look at it.
