Using PAM005 as an example, there are about 8500 units out there so far and if it goes out of production after "M", still can't imagine it being collectable... Staying with PAM005, a long-arrow mint "005G" (romoured to be only 100 produced out of 1000) commands only a slight premium. There are people trying to sell long arrow PAM005G for higher premium but no takers. Then there are other models 0,111,112,183,etc

    Series - Units
    G - 1000
    H - 1200
    I -1600
    J - 1100
    K - 1200
    L - 1200
    M - 1200 (?)
    Total - 8500 (?)
Totally agreed with you . Just buy what you want. HE HE.

Can't help but feel that you only think discontinued then should buy. You are wrong there. You should buy what you like period.

Swatch will continue to supply movements to existing long time client .

Unlikely they will discontinue anytime soon.

Even discontinued, unlikely to fetch much premium .

if investment, is better buy something you DO NOT like.
So you will not use it, and years later is a NOS !!!

            Bro Joseph,

Usually, OP does not make such announcement. Nowadays, I think the end guys are no longer so interested in what is going to discon.

Gadgetguy made a meaningful illustration of what it means if one of the logo base discons. It is that volume you are looking at. This news of zero and 5 "discon-ing" has been spinning for ages.. till nobody bothers any more.

When the brand first became popular, it was a "in thing" or "big thing" to own a discon model. But now, there are so many discon models. You see them in the resale markets in forums and shops.

Now, gold hands are inserted into regular productions. 47 mm case is no longer an SE thing. And tobacco dial is a regular production dial, although there are lighter tobacco vs. a darker tobacco dial etc etc.

It is a still an engaging brand to have some fun with. With an easy change of the straps, you get a different look and feel. If you are buying a Panerai for the first or second time, buy what speaks to you. Cheers.
