  • Which PAM rubber strap was introduced first?

    Hi all,

A question I have here re PAM rubber strap that comes as a 2nd strap with the non-Sub PAMs.

The J series PAM005 that I bought comes with the so called "new style" rubber strap with logos on it (the one on the right in the borrowed pic below). But almost every pic that I have seen on PAMs posted for sales that has a rubber strap as a 2nd strap, before or after the J series, comes with the so called "comfy rubber strap" (the one on the watch in the pic).

After some brief research on the cyberspace, I only manage to figure out that the "new style" logo strap was introduced around 2007 in some of the historic and comtemporary models. Apparently for some reason the "comfy strap" was reinstated after a short period.

Does any bro here have a better knowledge of the history of these two different rubber straps? Which is the first introduced? Why was the supposely "new style" logo strap only introduced in the box for a short period? Or did I mix up the "new style" strap with the "comfy strap"?

Personally I actually prefer the "new style" logo strap that I have, as the logos on the strap match well with my PAM005, but just want to clarify this part of the PAM history.

Good question posted. I will also like to know. All this while, I thought that the "logo" strap is meant only for the submersible models, whereas, the "worded" one is for the others. Let's see.

Adding on one more borrowed pic to generate more interest, that hopefully can help get to the bottom of it...

        Cool huh?

It's not a matter of new or old strap we are talking about here. The "logo" straps comes with the Submersible line of watches.

Bro, read my first post again carefully - I am not talking about the Submersible line here. I am not the only one who received the logo strap with the non-Submersible line of watches.

Since mine PAM005 is a preowned set, there is this possibility that the previous owner also owned a Submersible and then mixed up the rubber strap (intentionally or unintentionally). But I read in other PAM forums that a few other people also have this logo strap with their historic or contemporary model (preowned or new not clear), hence the question from me.

By the way, among the current Submersibles, only the 243 comes with the logo rubber strap. The 24 & 25 comes with the usual worded rubber strap. Based on that, it seems the logo rubber strap is being positioned as a higher-end rubber strap, and so logically people wouldn't swap it with the very common worded strap?

Oh on this, yesterday I went to see the 305 and 25, the 305 also comes with the logo rubber strap too. 25 is the usual worded strap.

Is it possible that the dealership mixed up the boxes??? Thats why some people got logo straps, some worded??? I mean for the lug width of 24mm ones though. The PAM 305 has a lig width of 26mm though.

And 305 is a expensive model (I safely assume whatever bro tsetse looks at is expensive haha), hence it supports my theory that the logo strap is being positioned as a higher-end rubber strap.

What I am trying to say is the logo strap comes with submersible pams and should not come with luminor base models. I think the ex owner got mixed up and gave you the wrong one.

hahaha no la, doesnt mean whatever watch I look at is expensive, just that I happened to be there yesterday with a friend to browse thats all

BTW if U talk about more expensive PAMs, both the 233 and 270 also come with worded rubber straps and no logo straps. I think most prob the boxes or straps got mixed up

But the mixup may have been at the factory too or at the dealership. It doesnt make much sense for the manufacturer to mix and match in this manner too. Pretty disorganised.

Anyone knows a concrete answer? hehe

hahaha bro, now I rest first, yesterday was there with my fren to see the Cvostos range of watches, very nice for the design, he is getting for his Wife.

I'm holding off my purchases for the time being, I have some watches in mind, so I'm holding off purchasing any of them and see which one is still in my mind after sometime later, then that will be the one I buy hehehehe But honestly after looking at the 25 and 305, 305 is the Submersible to go! and the price is good for a brand new one.

I dunno why but somehow, I get the feeling that our "timing" differs. It takes me months, if not years, so I guess yours refer to few days only?

The AP ROO Volcano/Panda/Black themes has been on my mind for quite sometime....

Yesterday my fren and I saw played with the Tag Heur Phones at my AD, my fren jio me to buy for quite awhile liaoz....but I cannot bear to spend so much $$$ on just a mobile phone lei....but yesterday play liao, now keep tinking bout it.....

Think I need to find sometime to distract myself from all these temptations. hahaha very very bad. Gotta save up abit ya
