  • 312 as a Starter?

Hi to all veteran Pam owners,

I'm new to the brand and considering getting a PAM. After browsing through the Web, it seems that most advocates would recommend a 312 or a 320 to start with, citing its classic Pam look and in-house movement.

Is this true? What are your opinions? Please feel free to contribute and will appreciate your comments

Buy what "sings" to you. No point getting something you "know" is logical but don't give you the incredible joyous "feel" on your wrist...

I think it's a good choice. It has inhouse movement and the sandwich dial. I love 312 too!

Agreed, 312 was my first (and only) Pam. Can't go wrong with the 1950s case, no-cyclops, in-house 3-day automatic movement.

Get the 312, you won't regret it! It has almost everything that we desire for a very affordable price. The best bang for the buck Pam.

312 is easier to resell than the 320.Can always upgrade later.

you mean pre-owned or new right?

for panerai many a time you can only buy pre owned as the the models were discontinued.

it is not the same watch even if the model are the same. eg. 111, 233, 292...

if you are looking at newer models like 312, it will be the same besides price and warranty. after all if you do wear it often, light scratches are inevitable.

Personally I don't think there's a right starter model - it is such a personal taste. Get the one you want else you'll end up selling it for a loss when change for something you really want at the first place. Only thing to be cautious is thickness of 312. It's of one the thickess PAM and tend sit high on skinny wrists which some people don't like.

Pre-owned versus new: some models (1, 190, t-dials, etc) are no longer made. So only way is to get pre-owned.

Welcome to the madness of Panerai. Hold on tight to your wallet and enjoy the journey
