The dot indicator on the Pam 233K I used to own, started changing form 'day' to 'night' from 6pm - 9pm and vice versa from 6am - 9am but I have seen pieces that change between 7-10 o'clock too ...

This is very intetesting. I have also a watch that changes from day to night starting at the 6th hour and completes at 9th hour.

I am wondering if this is how it is suppose to work as I understand that the change should start around the 9th hour and completes at the 12th hour.

This is suppose to tell you not to call your mates from 9th hour onwards.. cos its getting dark in the other side of the GMT zone. Something like that. 233 is quite interesting. its GMT is 12th hr instead of 24th unlike Rolex. Therefore you can hide your GMT arm if you don't like it!
