1938:
Creation of the first military diver's watch in history,
the Panerai Radiomir: 47mm in diameter, wire-loop
strap attachments, Rolex movement.
1940:
The wire-loop strap attachments are replaced by
horn lugs integral with the case. Luminosity is ensured
by a dial constructed of superimposed layers: metal
base; coating layer of luminous material; and the
numerals and markings cut out of the metal of the dial.
The material seen through these cutouts provides an
exceptionally bright degree of luminosity in complete
darkness. The watch's water resistance is ensured by
a lever, locking the crown integrated into a half-moon-
shaped bridge fixed to the case.
1943:
Development of the Mare Nostrum chronograph.
This model designed for deck officers remains in
the prototype stage.
1956:
Creation of the Panerai Radiomir watch commissioned
by the national Egyptian Navy. It is distinguished
from previous versions by the rotating bezel with
reference marks at five-minute intervals.
1980:
Panerai creates a diver's prototype in titanium
capable of resisting a depth of 1,000 meters.
1993:
The enterprise creates its first numbered and limited
series of models for the public: the Panerai Luminor
Marina and the Mare Nostrum.
1995:
At the request of Sylvester Stallone, Panerai creates
a special, extremely limited series of the Panerai
Luminor Marina named the Slytech. Each piece
carries the actor's signature engraved on the back.
1997:
Officine Panerai is bought by Richemont (at the time
the Vendome Luxury Group). The following year the
brand is launched on the international market.
2001:
Reopening of the Bottega Panerai at Piazza San
Giovanni 16r, Florence. This is the shop originally
opened by the Panerai family at the beginnin of the
20th century under the name Orologeria Svizzera.
2002:
Panerai Manufacture at Neuchatel, Switzerland
is opened in September. Opening of a Panerai
Boutique in Hong Kong.
2003:
Opening of a new Panerai Boutique in Portofino,
Italy.
2004:
Panerai sponsors explorer Mike Horn's ambitious
trek across the Antarctic and creates a special
timepiece for him that will endure extreme temperatures.

Just wanted to share it with those who do not know very much
about Panerai. Every day we hope to learn something new.
