    Yes...

Not expert but I'm using Cape Cod to polish and wipe off using microfibre cloth and it seems to work for very minor lines. You can get the cape cod from Time will Tell (Parklane) or JW (GE building) or Visiotime (republic plaza2) but do call to check if they have stocks..

well just live with it i guess .... it might be one of many hairline scratches to come a few years down the road then send it polishing etc

            Please do not use it!!!

it seems that the hairline scratch has being buffered off 40% when i use it.

Holy COW!!!! when i put it 10 cm under the bright light. There are a few hundred tiny "Polished lines"!!! at the area when i polished The Panerai casing is suppose to be mirror polished. Thank goodness it was only at the lug area where the screw is....

              Cape Cod

Yes, the cape cod is a polishing cloth that actually strips the top layer off and hence, removing the scratches. But what cloth do you use to wipe the cape cod chemical off?

                hand polish limits

when using hand polish, there will always be micro swirls that is visible under bright harsh light. under normal light, its not really obvious.

to achieve mirror finish machine is the way. I almost wanted to get a dremel myself. irritated by the service shops insisting full works for small jobs. saying like the look may not be consistent. true in some sense. but if i got a little scratch on bezel, i just want to pop the bezel and touch up, not lose material on the whole watch.

                other jobs like opening case...

anyway if can tahan better hold on till service. less material loss.

maybe some pro here can achieve mirror by hand?

To me, the swirl is visible...at most angle....yes. under the bright light. But it defeats the idea as the PAM casing are mirror polished. If you use it on a Tag Heuer Buckle or bracelet, it is more suitable. But not on a mirrored polished....surface.

                      Some techniques

Actually, you can refer to the following links for more tips on how to DIY... what they don't mention is using what sort of cloth to clean off. I tried using the usual "polishing cloth" that comes with the watches and there was many small line but I find using micro-fibre cloth the best.

getting scratches on the casing & bracelet are part & parcel of owning a watch.

abt a yr ago, i was very much into trying to achieve a polished surface but ended up ruining a couple of watch surfaces incl a heuer and a DJ. To achieve the polished mirror shine by hand is IMPOSSIBLE.

It has to be done by some kind of dremel drill. think the DIY shops have ready stock of such equipment. In addition, one would also have to chose the drill bit carefully. according to a technician, the movement needs to be removed from it's casing for polishing to be done.

As for capecod, I would only use it on brushed surface & not polished metal. For those who had used the latter on polishing their watches, the end results may serve to severely dishearten the owner to the extent of selling the watch.

best would be to leave the scratches as is and wait til it's time to service the watch. alternatively, one ould always opt for a watch with a brushed finish as opposed to one that's polished.

oh ya! now i recall. u r correct to state that capecod is for shiny surface. in any instance, i used capecod on my SMP chrono, no worries abt the brushed surface though. still looks brushed to me...or maybe i didn't polish hard enuff?

Ya, i think so too... I used it on brushed steel and it became more polished! Dunno whether to be happy or sad! But luckily old watch. But seriously, as some bro mentioned, some lines are bound to happen, wait a couple of years and then send for full polish with the professionals. I sent in my relatively new watch recently to a polisher because I was heartache to see some minor lines. He took a look and gave me back the watch and said "dun waste money, send it here a few years later".
