Forgive me for saying this...u dun even what u r discussing here.
"Special crown"????
Pam marina crown is special as it was developed and distributed in 1956 and patented in the U.S.A. in 1960.
Dun just anyhow hentam names here.
Marina are for Luminors w second hand.
Marina aint got nothing to do with crown or lever or protection system.
I'm no expert here.
But I just cannot stand on dis-information.
1950s case has different lever.
Luminor has different lever.
I bet u dun even know that.
Dun worrie, we all are not expert here...
I oso learn from u all.

This is spot on.
Marina stands for 'second-hand' function. Nothing to do with the crown protection system.
Base are just luminor.
Marina Militaire is another thing....and appears only on certain models with permission from the Italy Army.
Marina Militare is special permission from Royal Italian Navy which is known as Marina Militare in 1950s.
It was made for deck officers that do not need to dive.
Hence the lesser depth specs.
I learn this from a great fellow member today like Democritus....thanks

IMO, new model watches, always be prepared to pay premium. It is about bragging rights when you wear the latest. Once you notice everyone wears one, flip it for the next latest model.
