  • Is it worth it to buy PAM 00000 at $6500 local AD ?

    Dear everyone,

I am looking to buy my 1sr ever PAM and I am targeting the base model 00000. At this price and the model, do you all think its value for $? Thanks all.

I tried to buy one from AD and boutique and was told it was out of stock. I think if gray sellers have stock you can get for around 6000? Search around first before you make the final decision I guess.

Base models (000,111,112,005) will be phasing out soon as OP wants to have all their watch using inhouse movement.

In fact 510 is already a replacement to 111. Within next few years it will def halt production..

Lack of responds regarding this doesn't mean that the Zero lack of fans. Pricing is subjective. What's worth/value to you might not be for others and vice versa.

The eta movements soon to be out of production has been discussed before (since SIHH 2014) where Panerai has discon a couple of eta movement models and it will be a matter of time before the remaining eta movement models follow the path.

For now, the Zero is Panerai most basic entry model...my guess is...it could be the last to be discon...to offer options for those who wanted to get into Panerai but don't want to spend too much (exorbitant) amount just to test out if they will continue to appreciate the brand more and thus upgrading to the other higher price models.

Thanks ryuden and others for sharing.

I really like this model as it may be a entry level model but it doesn't look like 1.

I am just concerned about the enduring value of pam 00000. In yrs time, I may decide to sell to fund an upgrade. Hence jus want to get a feel of pple's opinion on its desirability.

I think pam 000 is not worth $6500... Can be had for less than $6k overseas AD.

              Between 000 and 112 I like the 112 better.

Actually what worth to buy is the thing that really last you. Means you really studys, takes notes, really love to wear it, also really love even in the safe box and no reason to say no wrist time and up for sales, accept emergency, even make you tears to let it go ,that was worth it.

Value, a moment you bought the value drop like 5k. To be safe and smart, look for used with full set and superb condition, if you lucky enough mint, sometimes even like new.

Thats the beauty of Panerai...they all look the same (except for WIS and especially Paneristis [they can tell the diff from a mile away]) and nobody can really tell the diff from a distance away other than it being a Panerai (thanks to the TM crown guard).

Even my wife can't spot the diff side by side. So its important to like what you buy.

The Zero have many fans as it was the most affordable Pam and you can never go wrong with a base. And before the newer 47/44 mm bases with inhouse movement and also a lot more expensive price tag was introduce, fans love the Zero as the cost of doing "modification" (pvd coating, baking of dial etc etc) is much lesser than using more expensive models.

Thats why the Zero was a very desirable Pam. Was. There might still be buyers for it but they (the buyers) are definitely a lot lesser than previous years and ironically, there are also a lot lesser sellers for the Zero too.

If you have thoughts of maybe selling it in the future to upgrade, like some of the bros here suggested, try to source for a cheaper set. Be it from overseas or buying it from grey dealers and resellers and chances are, when you decided to flip it, the lost will be lesser.

As wlover has mentioned, u may want to consider pam 112 which has sandwich dial and see-thru glass back. I find these 2 features to be worth the premium over the pam 000. And do consider getting from reputable "parallel importer" watch shops which can offer cheaper prices than the local AD and with the same warranty coverage

Just to make things more confusing, have u owned a hand wound watch b4? If not, do think abt the need (or hassle) of having to wind it every other day if u wear it regularly. For me, the winding was a novelty at first but it became a hassle after a while.

The Zero base has much respect among the Panerai community.

                              Base is Ace...!
